What activities can I do?
- Any activity can be incorporated into the Prairie 500. Choose from: cycling, walking, running, rowing, elliptical, steps, swimming or any variation at all. If you want to skip your way across Manitoba you can.
How can I track my activity?
- You can automatically send distances from apps such as Runkeeper, Strava, Fitbit, and Map My Run/Ride/Walk/Fitness, Apple Health, Google Fit, or simply enter them manually. The choice is yours.
Is there an age restriction?
- Absolutely not. Everyone is welcome to participate
Can I bring some friends or co-workers?
- You bet! Recruit as many friends, family members and co-workers as you like
How long is the virtual ride?
- The Prairie 500 can be as long or as short as you like. You do not have to complete the entire 500 km route
Do I have to ride the entire 500km distance?
- Absolutely not. You can ride as much or as little as you wish.
How do I sign up?
- Signing up is easy – Simply click JOIN on the mission page
What is the cost?
- The virtual event is $49 per participant
What is the minimum fundraising?
- There is no minimum fundraising requirement. However, we suggest a target of $100 for participants that are new to fundraising. For more experienced fundraisers, we encourage you to set your own fundraising goal of $250, $500, $1,000 or more!
Where does the fundraising go?
- All of the fundraising is directed to the Habitat for Humanity Manitoba Build fund in the community you want to support.
Can I fundraise for my local Chapter?
- You bet. On the donation page there is a drop-down menu for all of the Habitat chapters in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario

How many steps would it take to walk 500 km?
- It would take approximately 656, 168 steps to walk 500km. If you average 10,000 steps per day, it would take you just over 65 days to complete the walk across Manitoba.
I am very competitive. How can I see how I compare to others doing the same activities?
- Go to the Mission page and click on the Leaderboard tab. Select the appropriate leaderboard settings and filters. You can choose from weekly, monthly or all time statistics and choose from a variety of activity types and tracking devices.
