The Build a Future campaign started in 2014 and is an integral part of the Women Build program. Since Women Build was established in 2005, this program and the Build a Future campaign support have raised over $2 million dollars.

The Women Build program introduces women to Habitat Manitoba construction site(s), and through mentorship and training encourages women to assume leadership roles while building Habitat homes. Women Build welcomes all ages and genders, and are proud of their inclusivity. They promote solidarity and pride in the community, working alongside each other to build affordable houses for deserving Habitat Partner families.

In 2024, the Women Build program sponsored their 21st home for single mother Janna and her daughter, Bella.Janna is set to purchase her first home through Habitat Manitoba’s Pandora Avenue West development. With enthusiasm and determination, she became an active participant in the Women Build initiative. Alongside other dedicated volunteers, she rolled up her sleeves and worked tirelessly to construct not just a house, but a place where she and Bella can genuinely call home.

The positive impact of Habitat Manitoba in the community is far-reaching. On average, Habitat generates $215,000 of benefits to society per home. These benefits come in the form of Habitat homeowners’ reduced reliance on social housing and food banks, better education and employment outcomes, and improved health.

The unwavering dedication of the Women Build committee and supporters like you help Habitat Manitoba continue to partner with families, offering a hand up rather than a hand out through the homeownership program.
