In 2024, the Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation (MHRC) sold a parcel of land to Habitat for Humanity Manitoba for a nominal fee. The property contained 10 vacant, uninhabitable Manitoba Housing units that had fallen into significant disrepair. As part of the agreement, Habitat committed to increasing the number of homes on the site while ensuring long-term affordability for local families.

Following the demolition of the existing structures, Habitat began developing 10 duplexes to provide safe, affordable homeownership opportunities for families in need. The first duplex was completed in the summer of 2025 and is now home to two partner families. Construction of the second duplex was completed in the summer of 2026, welcoming two additional families to the community. Work is currently underway on the next four duplexes.

Once completed, the development will provide affordable homes for 20 families, including an estimated 40 to 60 children. This project will soon be a vibrant, family-oriented neighbourhood in Concordia, creating lasting benefits for families and the broader community.
