Habitat for Humanity Manitoba Celebrates Key Ceremony in Assiniboine Gardens  

Brandon, Manitoba – Today, Habitat for Humanity Manitoba, alongside community partners, supporters, and volunteers, celebrated a key ceremony for two new
single-family homes on Stickney Avenue in Brandon. These homes are built on land generously provided by the City of Brandon and are very close to Habitat Manitoba’s future community development that will create affordable homeownership opportunities for 30 more low-income working families. 

The local families moving in have purchased their homes through Habitat Manitoba’s affordable homeownership program. Through the program, families gain access to safe and stable housing while building equity and investing in their futures. 

Habitat Manitoba relies on the support of volunteers, donors, community organizations, and government partners to help address housing challenges across the province. The key ceremony marks an important milestone in expanding affordable homeownership opportunities in Brandon and creating lasting community impact.

They set the stage in bringing the vision for Assiniboine Gardens to life,” said Jamie Hall, CEO of Habitat Manitoba. “Through this development, we will create affordable homeownership opportunities for hardworking families while building a neighbourhood where children can play, families can thrive, and communities can grow stronger together. We are grateful to all of our partners whose support is helping make this vision a reality.” 

Habitat Manitoba’s long-term vision for Assiniboine Gardens, a thoughtfully planned, family-friendly neighbourhood designed to address Brandon’s need for safe, stable, and affordable housing. Over the next decade, Habitat Manitoba plans to build 30 two-storey, single-family homes ranging from two to four bedrooms. The development, located on 6th Street north of Stickney Avenue, will offer more than housing, with access to green space and nearby amenities, including a recreation centre, playgrounds, sports fields, and an outdoor rink.
