CEO of Habitat for Humanity Manitoba Announces Retirement

It is with mixed emotion that the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Manitoba announces its CEO, Sandy Hopkins’ decision to retire this summer. The Board of Directors acknowledges and expresses their sincere appreciation to Sandy for his incredible contribution to our community as CEO over the past 17 years.
“While we will certainly miss Sandy and his leadership, he is most deserving of his retirement. Sandy’s dedication, passion, perseverance and determination has led Habitat Manitoba to change the lives of nearly 350 families living in our province. He has always been driven by the organization’s mission that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live,” says Candray Mehkary, Chair, Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Manitoba.
Many milestones have been reached under Sandy’s leadership including establishing one of the largest Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the country; bringing the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project to Winnipeg in 2017; building the largest LEED residential development in Manitoba; building the largest group of Net Zero homes in Manitoba; breaking ground on Habitat Manitoba’s largest development on Pandora Ave West that will be home to 55 Habitat Partner families; developing the largest Chapter network in Habitat in Canada; raising millions of dollars to ensure low income families have a decent place to lay their head at night; and forging many strong, long-lasting relationships within the Manitoba business community.
