Spirit of Hope 2022 Cycling Event

August 29 – September 2, 2022

The 3rd annual Spirit of Hope cycling fundraiser took place from Aug. 29 – Sept.2 and raised more than $20,000 for families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing.

This five day, supported cycling adventure followed along the shores of Lake Winnipeg, headed to the northern tip of Hecla Island, MB and looped back to Winnipeg. Cyclists relived childhood memories of summer camp with accommodations at Camp Arnes.

On departure day, August 29th, cyclists battled adverse weather including rain and high winds, but the rest of the week improved greatly weather-wise. Days were full of sunshine, blue skies and dry pavement. During the riders downtime, they enjoyed swimming and bonfires with s’mores, along with an incredible dinner at the Lighthouse Inn with comfortable accommodations at Gull Harbour Marina.

Before the riders returned to Winnipeg on September 2nd, the team stopped for delicious cinnamon buns from Upper Crust Bakery, met up with Cycle of Hope alumni and took the Northeast Pioneers Greenway to meet loved ones and Habitat staff at the final stop, Gateway Recreation Centre.

Thank you to the volunteers and this year’s riders for making this Spirit of Hope a memorable one and helping families build better lives for themselves and their children.

Stay tuned for 2023 cycling fundraising information soon.
