Home for the holidays: Five more families move into their new Habitat Manitoba homes

December 15, 2025

Winnipeg, MANITOBA – Habitat for Humanity Manitoba (Habitat Manitoba) is thrilled to welcome five more families into their new homes at the Pandora Avenue West development, just in time for the holidays, a perfect opportunity to celebrate and create cherished memories with loved ones.

The Pandora Avenue West development is the largest project of its kind in Habitat Manitoba’s history. When complete in 2026, 55 families will be living in this vibrant neighbourhood. 35 homes have been completed to date. Through Habitat Manitoba’s affordable homeownership program, families have an opportunity to purchase a home through a unique financing partnership. Now more than ever Habitat Manitoba and its homeownership program is needed to continue building safe, decent and affordable homes.

Habitat’s path to homeownership is an involved and in-depth process that requires hard work, time and commitment by the future homeowners, all of which helps to strengthen their long-term success. Every safe, affordable home sparks wider change, leading to better health, education and well-being, more economic growth and less poverty.

The largest source of funding for building Habitat Manitoba homes is the mortgage payments made by local families who are benefiting from the Habitat model in providing safe and decent homes for their children. The second largest source of funds comes from the generous individuals, community groups, businesses and/or corporations in Manitoba who collaborate with us in so many ways to work alongside our families.

“We are thrilled these five families get to gather in their new homes just in time for the holidays in thanks to the incredible generousity of sponsors, donors and volunteers in our community,” says Jamie Hall, CEO, Habitat for Humanity Manitoba “The memories they create in their new home this season will be remembered for years to come, and this investment will have a lasting and positive impact on the families and the broader community of Transcona.”

“Housing is about much more than four walls and a roof. It’s about having a solid footing in your community, a place of safety and stability, and the reassurance that you belong. These new homes represent real opportunity for families here in Winnipeg, and a tangible investment in stronger, more connected communities,” said Ginette Lavack, Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous Services Canada and MP for St-Boniface – St Vital.

In September, Habitat Manitoba handed over the keys to three additional families, marking a significant milestone. In total, 26 families across Manitoba have received the keys to their new Habitat homes this year, an achievement that reflects our ongoing commitment to building strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. In 2026, Habitat Manitoba plans to build 31 homes across Manitoba.
