
Women Build Speaker Series featuring Joy Loewen in Celebration of International Women’s Day
Join Habitat for Humanity Manitoba for the Women Build Speaker Series, presented by Qualico, in celebration of International Women’s Day, Friday, March 7, 2025. This year, we are honoured to have Joy Loewen, VP, Growth & Inclusion, Canada Media Fund (CMF) as our guest speaker.
The Women Build Speaker Series highlights successful and inspiring women in the community who share their stories to help empower others. Proceeds from this event will be used toward the construction of the 22nd Women Build home.

Doors open and buffet breakfast available starting at 7:30 am

Tickets: Individual tickets are $115 each or purchase a table of 8 for $1,500*

About Joy
Before joining the Canada Media Fund (CMF) as VP, Growth & Inclusion in April 2024, Joy was CEO of the National Screen Institute (NSI) from January 2020 to April 2024. Her accomplishments at the NSI include the development of over 20 programs and collaborating with the CMF to create Access BIPOC Producers—an intensely customized program designed to train producers from underrepresented communities on how to access opportunities in the international market.
In addition, Joy has worked as a broadcast and festival programmer at WTN (now W Network), CBC, and Gimli Film Festival.
Based in Winnipeg, Joy holds a bachelor’s degree in radio and television arts from Ryerson (now Toronto Metropolitan University). She is an active volunteer and a member of several community and nonprofit boards and councils, including The Winnipeg Foundation, Canada’s National Ballet School, the Order of Manitoba Advisory, and Manitoba King’s Counsel Advisory.
In 2023, Joy was named Playback Changemaker of the Year and in 2024, received the Women in Film and Television+ Toronto Special Jury Award of Distinction.
