Habitat for Humanity and Ten Thousand Villages, working together for the greater good.

Habitat for Humanity Manitoba supports a new national partnership between Habitat for Humanity Canada (HFHC) and Ten Thousand Villages Canada by working with the two local Ten Thousand Village stores. The national partnership is developing three exciting cause-marketing initiatives throughout the year that will help break the cycle of poverty by building more affordable housing in Canada and abroad.

Ten Thousand Villages Canada is a non-profit, non-governmental, Fair Trade Organization designed to benefit artisans, not to maximize profits. They market products from handicraft and agricultural organizations based in low-income countries, providing consumers with products that have been fairly purchased from sustainable sources.

Started  March 14, the first fundraiser is entitled “Everyone needs a home.” For each Habitat birdhouse sold in a Ten Thousand Villages Canada store, a donation of $10 will go to Habitat for Humanity home building projects, as long as supplies last. You can support Habitat for Humanity Manitoba by purchasing yours at either 134 Plaza Drive (east off Pembina Hwy by Bishop Grandin) or at Northdale Shopping Centre, 963 Henderson Hwy.  All funds raised will flow through HFHC and be designated to the coinciding Habitat affiliates.

Ten Thousand Villages Canada believes men and women around the world have a simple dream - to earn an honest living, provide a home, food and education for their children, and to be gainfully employed in a job that brings dignity and joy. By partnering with HFHC, Ten Thousand Village Canada hopes to transform the lives of partner families at home and around the world.
