legacy giving

The legacy you leave will make an impact for many years to come. Families will grow and become stronger, financially secure, more active and supportive members of their communities. You can help address housing needs in Manitoba now and in the future by remembering us in your will or by making another type of planned gift. Through our planned giving options, Habitat for Humanity Manitoba can help you achieve your financial and philanthropic goals.

Designate a fixed dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular piece of property. And, by applying investment principles to charitable giving, Habitat for Humanity Manitoba can ensure that your dollars have the greatest impact in transforming the lives of those living in need.

charitable bequest
A bequest in your Will allows you to make a generous contribution to a charity that you may not have been able to afford during your lifetime. The amount of your bequest is 100% deductible against your income in the year of your death and can be credited against income in the year prior to death, thus reducing your estate’s tax burden.

gifts of retirement plan funds
Making Habitat for Humanity Manitoba a primary or co-beneficiary of your registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) or registered retirement income fund (RRIF) will enable you to support Habitat Manitoba and reduce the amount of taxes that your estate would otherwise have to pay.

gifts of life insurance
When you donate a life insurance policy, you are providing a substantial future gift for Habitat for Humanity Manitoba. Your regular monthly payments toward a life insurance policy over several years is multiplied into a much larger financial contribution in the future!

gifts of property
Outright gifts of property such as real estate, artwork or jewelry are accepted ‘in-kind’ based on suitability. Donation receipts are issued for the fair market value of the gift.
