Hats Off To You!

More than campfires and marshmallows!
During the summer of 2009, thanks to the generous support of the TimHorton Children’s Foundation Camp Day, 2 children from Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg (HFHW) families will go to camp at the Tim Horton Memorial camp in Parry Sound,Ontario and have the experience of a lifetime!

Camp Day is the one day a year when Tim Horton’s store owners’ partner with local community groups and agencies such as HFHW, and donate every penny from coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. This year camp day will be held on June 3.

Each year HFHW staff assists with the selection of campers. The experience includes travel expenses as well as the camp stay! For many HFHW kids, this is their first trip on an airplane!

Camp can be the start of something big in the life of a child. A trip to one of the Foundation’s six camps builds teamwork and problem solving skills, develops leadership and creativity, fosters a positive attitude in each child and helps them
discover their true potential.

This year the Foundation will surpass a new milestone by serving over 13,000 children through a variety of camp programs designed to instill in each camper the motivation and confidence to strive for a brighter future. Your support on Camp Day will help make a positive difference in the lives of children from within your community.

Thank you Tim Hortons!

Homes from the heart
Thank you to REALTY EXECUTIVES First Choice for partnering with HFHW on an exciting program designed to help eliminate poverty housing in the Winnipeg area.

They are modeling their support after a REALTY EXECUTIVES Homes from the Heart program that has been operating in the United States since 1998 and has raised over $1 million. In Winnipeg, REALTY EXECUTIVES First Choice agents and brokers will be raising funds by donating a portion of their earned income from every Homes From the Heart real estate transaction.

Additionally, they will be inviting industry partners, home sellers and home buyers to make a pledge as well. The Homes from the Heart program is designed to allow all parties in a real estate transaction to contribute a nominal amount to the effort. For more information about this program, please visit www.realtyexecutivesfirstchoice.com or call 885-8999.

Ibex Payroll is once again spearheading a Clean your Green initiative.
The goal of Clean your Green is to achieve two main community initiatives:

1. Transforming a neglected public space into a sustainable green area.

2. Raising money for an incredible charity - Habitat for Humanity.

Last year, with the help of over 60 volunteers and major corporate sponsorship, they overhauled the Osborne St. underpass turning it into a vibrant green space and thanks to many generous donations, raised over $22,000 for Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg!

This year, they have two initiatives:

Event 1: May 22, 2009 (The Big Clean) - We will once again be cleaning the four corners of the Osborne St. Underpass

Event 2: TBA - Something special is in the works – it just can't be announced yet (Hint: It will be beautiful).
