IBEX ‘Plant it Forward’ Fundraiser raises $20,000 for Habitat
 A unique fundraising venture created by IBEX Payroll has benefited the Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg cause once again. For the past four years, through its Clean your Green initiative, IBEX has raised over $25,000 for Habitat. This years’ new ‘Plant it Forward’ concept was another great fundraising success!
Flowers of all shapes and sizes were hand-crafted from recycling materials by individuals from schools, community clubs, senior centres, families, Girl Guides, Scouts, artists and numerous others. The community spirit and generosity extended from all of the flower makers to the businesses that kindly sponsored their efforts. In total, over 1000 flowers were created, making for a great display. The original plan was to celebrate spring by planting all the flowers in the snow down by the river at the Forks, but with an early melt, the IBEX team had to improvise. Using 25 portable, free standing fencing panels donated by Wallace and Wallace Fencing, the flowers were ‘planted’ under the canopy at the Forks and made for a colourful spectacle on March 20. Sandy Hopkins, CEO of Habitat graciously accepted the $19,000 cheque and Deputy Mayor Justin Swandel, on behalf of the city donated a further $1,000 to make the fundraising total an even $20,000.
