Get Involved: Adopt-a-Day
Adopt-a-Day Challenge
The Adopt-a-Day program is a great way for your organization or group to engage in community and social responsibility. Invest in Habitat for Humanity Manitoba (HFHM) while enjoying the benefits of a powerful team building experience with your colleagues, classmates, friends or family.

This one-of-a-kind opportunity allows teams to spend the day on a Habitat build site, building homes for low-income Winnipeg families in need of a hand-up. Participants are suited up in safety gear, trained, and led through a variety of construction tasks while working together in a safe and fun environment. And, don't worry - no building experience is required!

Building with Habitat produces tangible results. Years after your Adopt-a-Day investment, you will be able to drive past the home and say, "I helped build it!" There is no better feeling than knowing you made a difference in the lives of a low-income family.

Together, we can make dreams affordable.

Magellan Aerospace is a supporter of numerous Winnipeg community activities, and has been a supporter of Habitat for Humanity since 2007. Many of our employees volunteer for the builds year after year, such as Willy Wall, a senior quality assurance representative. Willy volunteers because "it is a feeling of accomplishment to see the amount of work done in a day working with a crew of people eager to help. It also makes you thankful for what you have. For example, one day when working on a house in hot conditions I was grumbling about having to cut my grass when I went home. The homeowner standing there said he couldn't wait to have that opportunity. That's what it's all about."

At CIBC it is important to be well known within our communities and to be ambassadors of our brand. When I was first approached with the idea to partner with Habitat for Humanity on an Adopt-A-Day project I immediately said yes. At the time I did not know the logistics, however, I knew one thing and that was I have always wanted to part of a home build with Habitat for Humanity. I knew my passion to do this would immediately stir the passion within my team and I would have 10 yeses almost as immediately as I had said yes.

The day was beyond rewarding. From the moment we walked on to the job site you knew that our involvement was going to make a difference and help a family in need. Each of my team members in one way or another had come up to me during the day expressing their thanks to have been asked to be a part of this. You could see the impact it was having on them by the expression on their faces. Everyone played a role in making the day one that we continue to talk about and that will live on in our memories. As the albums were passed around to sign I caught glimpses of some of my team members deep in thought about what they wanted to say - I knew they were reflecting on two things 1) What they wanted to say to the families and 2) What the day meant to them personally.

I want to thank the Habitat for Humanity on site crew who were very patient as the showed some of new skills and to take some of us out of our comfort zone. You all provided the foundation to make our involvement in such a wonderful program personally rewarding for all of us

Colin Koch, CIBC
