Commitment to Privacy

At Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg respecting privacy is an important part of our commitment to our donors, homeowners, volunteers, and employees. That is why we have developed the Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg Privacy Code.

When you make a donation, apply to become a homeowner, volunteer, or apply to work for Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg, you can expect that any personal information you provide (or have provided) to us will be carefully protected and we will only use, retain, and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to provide you with information about Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg through our newsletters and other communications;
  • to administer donations which includes tax receipting;
  • to thank donors and volunteers;
  • to inform you of donation and volunteer opportunities;
  • to process applications, perform credit checks, administer mortgages and to obtain construction permits and warrantees for homeowners and homeowner applicants, where applicable;
  • to meet legal and regulatory requirements;
  • to carry on our normal operations.

We do not collect any personal information from users browsing our Web site. When you use the public areas of our Web site you are doing so anonymously. We do collect aggregate use information, such as the number of hits (visits) per page. We use aggregate data for internal and marketing purposes, but we don't collect any personally identifying information, unless you fill out a donation form, or signup to receive our newsletters.

We utilize secure transaction methods when collecting credit card information over the Internet. We do not disclose credit card account information provided by our clients. We submit the information to the appropriate clearinghouse in order to obtain payment. We do not store your credit card information for any future use.

For Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg homeowners, when another person or organization performs a service for us or for you, our normal business operations would include our disclosure to that other person or organization the portion of your personal information required in order to perform that service. Should we wish to use your information for purposes other than what we've identified, we will explain the purpose and ask for consent before doing so.

Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg will not disclose personal information about our donors, volunteers, or employees to any third party. Your information will not be sold, rented or bartered to any other organizations.

If you ask us to delete any of your personal information from our records, we will do so unless we are required by law to retain some or all of your personal information for an additional period of time that is reasonable in the circumstances.

You may withdraw your consent for the use or disclosure of your personal information for the purposes described above other than as required by the law by contacting our privacy officer at bborn@habitat.mb.ca
